Steelcote Flats, a multi-unit residential development in St. Louis, anchors a growing post-industrial neighborhood in the Mill Creek Valley. Designed by Trivers and Arbolope Studio, the project features an ample outdoor rooftop amenity space with a pool deck that overlooks the surrounding cityscape. The metal façade acknowledges the area's industrial history, while ground-floor retail and pedestrian-friendly streetscape integrates the building into the urban fabric. The project presented challenges in highlighting its appealing aspects amidst a difficult industrial site, hemmed in by power lines, a rail line, and competing uses.
